Ceramic tile is a mixture of clays, shaped and fired in a kiln at high temperatures then glazed. Ceramic tiles applications are for interior and exterior, walls, floors, showers, tub surrounds, backsplashes, fireplaces, kitchen counter tops, vanities and walkways.
Porcelain tile has more of a dense body than ceramic. Porcelain applications are for interior/exterior, all areas including commercial/heavy traffic areas.
Coordinating trim available for tub surrounds and showers, finishing off counter top edges, wall edges and backsplash edges.
Travertine
Travertine is a limestone that has been formed over a long period of time. This product is porous with visible holes. Travertine is available in many colors and some common finished are; honed, polished, tumbled, filled and unfilled. The unfilled gives more of a rustic appearance while, filled gives more of a formal look. It can be used on walls, fireplaces, shower/tub/vanities, flooring and backsplashes.
Marble
Marble is formed from limestone by heat and pressure in the earth. It is distinguished by the veining and crystallization, large variation and comes polished, honed and tumbled. Marble is not recommended for food applications. Marble should be used in interior applications, walls, fireplaces, shower/tub/vanities, flooring.
Some qualities to remember about natural stone: it is not uniform, consistent or flawless.
It is unique, beautiful and adds personality to the environment. Sealing all natural stone is highly recommended.
